Introduction of Maurizio Franco
Notti di Luce takes an extraordinary work of the composer and saxophonist Oliver Nelson for the first time in Italy. When, in 1967, Nelson ideated this work, he conceived it already in multidisciplinary terms, superimposing the voice of American president J. F. Kennedy recorded during some of his most important speeches - Rights of all, Tolerance and Genuine Peace - to original music.
Therefore the work will be presented in its main parts by the well-known Notti di Luce Orchestra, the ensemble created specifically since the first edition of the festival to realize events and that, with the direction and arrangements of Gabriele Comeglio, confirms all his extreme flexibility. In addition to the orchestra the voice of the singer Nick the Nightfly and the actor Walter Tiraboschi. The first, Scottish but living in Italy since 1982, besides being one of the leading voices of Radio Montecarlo, is an famous singer and composer and recently released a new album called The Devil with his Montecarlo Nights Orchestra. The second, actor and director will give voice to some passages taken by the most intense speeches of John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Martin Luther King.
