The Story of Onehand Jack and other “strange loves”
Stefano Benni, acting voice
Paolo Damiani, cello
Gianluigi Trovesi, clarinets

Onehand Jack and Other Strange Loves is the title of the show that invigorates the happy artistic fellowship between Stefano Benni and Paolo Damiani, often embellished by the presence of Gianluigi Trovesi, after the success of the prevoius shows, of the very recent Danzando Lolita to the former Sconcerto.

The first part of the show is dedicated to Onehand Jack, the story of a double-bass player with just one hand, a wonderful blind singer, a deteriorated city and a despicable rich man that would like to buy everything. But, as in the best fairytales, good prevails over evil. In Benni’s words: “This city full of skyscrapers and gutters, saxes and tommy guns, sharks and saints, embellished by lights and intoxicated by smoke, well, it seems to me that this city, sometimes, has got a heart. A heart that beats slowy, in a fatigued way, tenacious, like Onehand Jack’s bass”.

In the second part there will be a gathering of improvisations, along different rhythms and poems: from the Slow of the Impossible Loves to the Rap of Little Red Riding Wood (where a nowdays-Little Red Riding Wood meets Lonesome Wolf, a scoundrel not that reliable on the subway), from the two Blues for Billie (Holiday) and John to the rock of “Mamma Mettimi Giù” (Mum, lay me down), up to the “Tango del Tirannicidio” (Tango of the Tyrannicide), and in the end a short homage to the Devil and to the two musicians De Andrè and Jeff Buckey.
