Notti di Luce
Improvisating art
The artistic project
Every cultural and artistic event is the expression of the vitality of a community and of the city that, every day, this community produces with its own activities. From this reflection Sentierone boulevard was appointed as a wide stage for the whole city. This strolling place, but also a longitudinal axis that historically performs administrative and economic functions, will be the trait d’union between Dante and Matteotti Square. The topic chosen for this edition matches well with the choice to widen the spaces for the shows. For the 2005 edition improvisation in every artistic forms, from music, to theater and dance will be performed. As in the past, the programme was planned both from an artistical point of view, in order to give the city the “original production” of unique events, and also with the aim of making the city liveable for everybody. Indeed it will be a party and a meeting moment in the name of improvisation that also this year comes into being thanks to the Chamber of Commerce. In accordance with the consolidated tradition of the feast, Clay Paky’s architectural lights, a company from Bergamo that is an international leader in show lights, will be the plot and guiding line during all the display. Along the ideal stage of Sentierone boulevard that links Piazza Dante, the ancient economic, social and cultural centre to Palazzo Frizzoni, the City Council seat, on all nights the audience will be lead between the two ends of the tour by self-lit aerostatic balloons and acrobatic dancers of light-art director Valerio Festi. On two stages equipped for this occasion in the square in front of Palazzo Frizzoni and at Quadriportico del Sentierone shows inspired to the Italian Comedy and to improvisation will be held, as main event of the night.. Nick the Nightfly & Montecarlo Nights Orchestra will perform the “Blues to bop” show, an exclusive production for “Notti di Luce”. Well-known actor Titino Carrara playing the role of Harlequin while the acrobatic dance company Kataklò Dance Theatre will perform “Technopolis”, a new show for Bergamo’s audience which was successfully presented in September 2004 in Bergamo in occasion of del IASP World Meeting of the scientific and techmologic parks. This year’s arrival point of all the event will be Lucio Dalla’s concert. The concert is exclusively for “Notti di Luce” and represents an important step in Dalla’s jazz development. And then two-day free stages open to the public on jazz improvisation with Franco Ambrosetti and on theater improvisation about the character of Harlequin and the Italian Comedy with Titino Carrara. In the courtyard of Palazzo Frizzoni an exhibition of the works awarded at the XXI edition of Ermenegildo Agazzi national painting contest will be held.
